Nigel Farage plots major comeback in 2024 to push Tories on one issue

Nigel Farage could be set for a political comeback in 2024 amid rumours he plans to put the Government’s “feet to the fire” on immigration.

Allies close to Farage have suggested he plans on taking on a bigger political role in 2024 as he challenges immigration policies.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, one friend of the Brexiteer said: “Nigel is very angry about the way the Tories have lied through their teeth on immigration for more than a decade.

“Make no mistake that he will be holding their feet to the fire on immigration in 2024.”

Farage criticised Home Secretary James Cleverly this week after he celebrated no small boat arrivals over Christmas.

Calling him a “moron” on social media platform X, Farage said: “You may be called Cleverly but you are clearly a moron.”

His friend added: “His broadside against James Cleverly is just the beginning.”

Rumours began swirling about Farage re-entering the political world after his appearance on I’m A Celeb where he finished an impressive third having won over some of the nation.

Admitting his success, he said his appearance gave him a chance to connect with “a new audience” of voters who were too young to vote when the Brexit referendum took place.

Reform UK leader Richard Tice also suggested Farage is giving a “great deal of thought” about whether to return to frontline politics with a bigger role at the party.

He stepped down from his role in a controversial move after leading the Brexit campaign. The party is hosting a press conference on January 3 where they will discuss Labour and the Tories tax and immigration plans.

Some have suggested it’s an opportunity for Farage to re-enter the political world, with Mr Tice saying “watch this space”.

Mr Tice also revealed his party will turn their political fire on Labour in 2024. “The toxic Tories are finished,” he said. “We are going to shift our attack away from them and go hard on Keir Starmer.”
