Ngozi Fulani reignites Palace race row and asks 'why is it so hard so say sorry?'

Upon appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain on March 8, charity leader Ngozi Fulani put the spotlight back on a row involving Buckingham Palace which came to light in late November 2022. Ms Fulani told TV hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley she is temporarily stepping down as CEO of Sistah Space, an organisation which provides support to victims of domestic abuse with African and Caribbean heritage.

While announcing this decision, she also criticised Buckingham Palace for not intervening when she received threats of violence and online abuse.

She also argued the Palace has not actually issued an apology to her, after it released a fresh statement claiming the pledges made to Ms Fulani in late 2022 have been honoured.

The statement, read out by Mr Madeley, said: “For the avoidance of any doubt, we are deeply sorry for the incident that took place and apologise for the distress and difficulty it caused to Ms Fulani.”

But the charity leader believes that apology was simply not addressed to her.

She told the TV hosts: “Who were they apologising to. If you are sorry, tell me you are sorry, if you are not, it speaks for itself.”

She later added: “If you have to ask someone for an apology, it’s not an apology. I am just making the point so that everybody understands.

“I don’t see what is so hard to say I am sorry. You send me an invitation, you know where to find me, you know how to say sorry. If you are sorry then say sorry, if you are not, I get it.”
