The Met Office forecasts a wet and windy weekend to start the New Year for many, with a rare amber alert issued for southwest Scotland.
Friday is set to be particularly wet for many, with rain expected to move northeast across the UK.
Around 40mm of rain is possible in some spots in Northern Ireland, and over 60mm could be seen through the day in Scotland.
