New behind-the-scenes photos of King Charles released as BBC teases Coronation documentary

The BBC has released two new pictures of King Charles ahead of the broadcast of its new documentary, set to be released on Boxing Day, which shows behind-the-scenes segments from the monarch’s Coronation back in May.

In the new photos, the King can be seen at the Coronation rehearsal in Buckingham Palace as well as at the Saltfleetby – Theddlethorpe Dune, part of the Lincolnshire Coronation Coast National Nature Reserve.

The new documentary will show never-before-seen footage of Charles and Queen Camilla in the first year of the monarch’s reign.

Earlier this week, the broadcaster released new clips of the upcoming documentary.

In one of them, Prince George can be seen wearing his red uniform and fixing his gloves as his grandfather and Queen Camilla get in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach to travel from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey.

Earlier in the clip, the monarch can be seen lifting the arm in his robe and saying “I can fly” before gesturing to his four pages, including George, “Shall we get ourselves organised round there?”

The clip also features the Queen wearing her white and gold embroidered Bruce Oldfield gown and robes.

In another moment, Queen Camilla’s sister, Annabel Elliot, who was a “Queen’s Companion” at the event, can be seen looking tearful as she watches her sister head to Westminster Abbey to be crowned Queen.

“When I thought back to being two years old and watching the Queen’s Coronation on a tiny black and white television and there goes this golden coach with my sister in it,” she says, adding: “I can’t explain the feeling because it’s so surreal. This cannot be happening. It was quite a moment.”
