Netflix has officially ceased production on Break Point after just two seasons. The documentary series was created as tennis’ answer to Drive to Survive – the wildly successful F1 show. But Break Point faced several issues and struggled to get big stars like Novak Djokovic to feature.
Break Point has been scrapped just two months after its second season dropped on Netflix, according to The Times. It was hoped that the series would bring the same results as Drive to Survive, which brought hoards of new fans to motorsport.
The same production team worked on Break Point but the tennis series never matched its F1 counterpart when it came to viewing numbers, with the golf version – Full Swing – also enjoying a lot more success. The tennis world had been hoping to attract a new audience, with the ATP, WTA and four Grand Slams happy to open their doors to the project.
But it was much harder to get through to the sport’s biggest names. The likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal were notably absent from the two seasons. Although young stars like Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff offered up interviews, producers struggled to get behind-the-scenes content from top players.
