Neighbour orders heavily pregnant woman to take her child to school every day

A heavily pregnant woman has lashed out over a neighbour who asked her to drive her son to and from school every day.

The mum-to-be detailed how the neighbour usually sends her 12-year-old to school in a taxi, but has now asked her to do the school run in an unfair “solution”.

Already a mum to a two year old and now eight months pregnant, the woman said: “On the odd time I have took my neighbour’s son to school with me when she had an emergency or she was feeding her baby.

“Yesterday morning, she dropped into conversation that they cannot keep affording to send their 12-year-old to school via taxi anymore.

“He has anxiety – he cannot go by bus so will need to be driven to school.”

Speaking on Mumsnet, the woman continued: “[She asked] can I permanently take her younger son to school and in the afternoons pick him up and bring him home with me until 5pm ish, as she needs to collect her baby from the childminder and it’s becoming too tight. [sic]”

In a polite reply, the woman said would be “saddled with a newborn” in just a month and can’t take on any extra responsibilities.

But in a nasty reply, the neighbour said: “Well you would still be doing it anyway so what’s an extra child.”

The woman said she was “so shocked I didn’t reply and my toddler started crying so I said my goodbyes”.

Users flocked to her support, telling her that the neighbour was in the wrong.

One said: “So she wants you to provide free transport and after school care – what a cheeky f*****.

“I’d simply tell her that while you’re happy to help in an emergency you can’t commit to an ongoing arrangement and she’ll need to use formal childcare.”

Another user drafted a message to send to the neighbour, which said: “Text her: ‘Sorry I was a bit flustered before because XXX was crying! I’m sorry but I can’t help with your youngest in that way, I’ve got too much on with my own after school. Hope you manage to get sorted with it’.”

Another said to the mum: “It’s such a huge and cheeky request it needs to be a flat out and very clear no from the offset.”
