NATO fighter jets scramble over Poland as Putin's troops blast major city close to border

NATO planes scrambled over Poland today as Russia blasted Ukraine in its latest round of long range missile strikes. The strikes were from strategic Tu-95MS aircraft which flew from a base in the Arctic.

Some 400 windows were smashed. A total of one dead and nine wounded resulted from the latest attacks.

A video shows how a massive crater was formed by a mis-striking Putin missile hitting the village of Buda-Babenetskaya in Kyiv region. Seven private buildings were also hit in the Russian strikes.

“Polish and allied aircraft have been activated, which may result in increased noise levels, especially in the south-eastern part of the country,” said Warsaw’s operational command as the morning onslaught was underway.

“Intensive long-range aviation activity of the Russian Federation is being observed, related to missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine.

“All necessary procedures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace have been launched.”

The mayor of Lviv Andrii Sadovyi said: “There have been hits in the city.

“According to preliminary information, explosive waves shattered windows in several buildings on Naukova Street in Lvivi.”

Residential buildings were smashed in Chuhuiv, Kharkiv, where a 67-year-old woman was killed.
