Naples urged to 'do better' as pizza birthplace infuriates tourist with tiny panini for £6

A woman has shared her frustration after receiving a miniscule panini she purchased for £6 while on holiday in Italy. Emily, who is from Canada, said she received the “one bite” sandwich whilst visiting the popular holiday destination. Sharing a video of the panini on TikTok, she said: “Okay wanna see what I just got for f**king €7 [£6] in Naples, Italy?”

Emily began the video, in which she could be seen holding a cardboard takeaway box. “It was supposed to be a panini, okay? What was it … it was cheese, more cheese, green olives, f***ing carrots.”

After reiterating how much she had spent on the food, she said: “You can’t make this sh** up”.

As she opened the box and held up the miniature panini, her friends could be heard laughing in the background as she revealed the snack didn’t even live up to its menu description.

“This is a $10.50 Canadian bite of f***ing no cheese, just carrots,” she continued.

Emily opened the sandwich to reveal the filling inside, which appeared to consist of a few slices of carrots and a small portion of cheese.

“It’s just carrots. They legit charged me f***ing €7,” she said, before showing the receipt for the miniature meal.

The TikToker then called the portion size “highway robbery” before urging Naples to “do better”.

In the caption of the video, which has since been viewed more than 339,000 times, Emily joked about the small sandwich, writing: “Apparently Italians think I should be on a diet.”

Viewers found the portion size hilarious, with many admitting they didn’t expect the sandwich to be that small prior to the reveal.

Emily then returned to the restaurant where she showed workers the portion size and questioned the price tag. But the restaurant appeared to take her complaint seriously as she revealed a much larger panini she was given.

“They spotted you a mile away…” one person wrote, while another viewer claimed the restaurant had “scammed” Emily.

“The vendor knew that you were easy money,” someone else commented.
