'My house stinks of rotting fish and I'll be fined £40 if I try to clean it'

A group of homeowners have erupted and hundreds of dead fish have been left to rot in their neighborhood pond.

Alabama residents in Avalon, Moody have the stench of fish carcasses entering their homes and on their doorsteps, according to WBRC.

Due to a lack of rainfall, the dead marine life have piled up in a nearby puddle.

One homeowner has warned they face a “£40 fine” for trying to clear up the issue.

One homeowner said: “With it drying up, there’s just been a ton of dead fish, and all of the fish is literally at my backdoor.

“The smell was getting bad in the neighborhood. Now it went from the neighborhood, and now it’s inside the house.”

He noted that he approached his homeowner’s association, but claimed that nothing had been done.

The resident added: “Our HOA is the same HOA where if you have a welcome sign at your front door, you’ll get a $50 fine.

“So, it’s just very strict, and I feel like it’s the HOA’s responsibility to do that.”

He continued: “We pay the highest in HOA dues, and the rules here are so much stricter than they are anywhere else.

“I get having the rules keeping yards clean, not having trash cars in your driveway. I don’t think it’s too much to ask to pull the money out and put some Lyme on this fish to get it to go away pretty quick.”

The HOA told WBRC: “The Avalon Board of Directors is aware of this issue, cares about the residents, and is in the process of handling this.”

It comes just months after thousands of decomposing fish washed ashore along the Texas Gulf Coast.

The marine life washed up throughout the weekend due to a “low dissolved oxygen event”.

Quintana Beach County Park said: “The most recent are deteriorated to the point of being shredded skeletons.

Most of the fish that died were Gulf menhaden.
