When the family finished their shop and went to the checkout, their total bill without concessions came to $328.79 (£264.08).
This was slightly higher than Amanda anticipated but they were still able to reduce this amount to $66.34 (£53.28).
Overall, this supermarket cost-cutting exercise saw Amanda’s family slash 80 percent of their total bill.
On this saving, Amanda said: “I’m very proud of my parents at this point. I showed them they could do it on their own.”
