Move over, Einstein, 12-year-old Anwita’s high IQ score is no theory

Aged just 12, schoolgirl Anwita Patil already has an IQ higher than Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking, writes Helena Vesty. The youngster stunned officials at Mensa, the world-famous high-IQ society, when she scored more than the two legendary physicists – believed to have IQs around 160.

Anwita’s parents put her forward for the test after she kept beating her mathematician mum Anu at complicated problems.

Shocked dad Jay, an NHS consultant in Manchester, said: “She got the highest possible score of 162 in her age category.”

Anu, who has a PhD in maths, realised there was something unusual happening when her little girl started beating her to the answers.

Jay said: “Right from primary school, Anwita would be coming up with a few ways of solving problems my wife doesn’t know. We thought there had to be something else going on.”

So Anwita took two Mensa tests – the first for linguistic ability and lateral thinking, which saw her hit 162. The second was for visual and spatial awareness, and she scored 140.

Proud dad Jay added: “When we found out, I thought ‘you must be joking?’.
