Mortified mum confused as postman 'smirks' handing over parcel – then sees label

A mum has been left mortified after an online order arrived without the discreet packaging it had promised as the postman handed it over with a “smirk”. Chloe Lythgoe received an alert on her phone that a delivery from Amazon was arriving and kept an eye out for the long awaited package. After noticing the driver walking up the path, she realised he was smiling to himself as she opened the door.

After signing for the package, she realised the name of the X-rated toy inside was printed on the label right next to the barcode that the driver needed to scan.

“I opened the door and he handed it over, smirking as if he knew what was in the box,” she sad.

“It was awful, I looked at him as if to say ‘please, I hope you’ve not seen it’ and he looked back to say ‘I know what’s in there’.”

The 21-year-old ordered the £15 adult toy from Amazon, with the product delivery details promising to make discretion “a primary consideration”.

But Chloe, from Warrington, says she now feels ‘mortified’ every time she has to answer the door to face her postie.

“I went bright red, just closed the door and thought ‘typical me’,” she said. “I just wanted the ground to open up and eat me, it was less than discreet.

“I opened the door in my dressing gown too with my kids stood behind me wondering who was at the door with my hair up in a ‘mum bun’ – I bet I looked the part. I felt so embarrassed. Even now when he comes to the door I can’t look at him in the eye, just knowing he knows what I get up to makes me cringe.

“He still delivers all my parcels and every time I open the door I think ‘oh why? Please change’. I’ve got years of embarrassment to come.”

The full-time mum-of-three ordered the product after it was recommended by friends, deciding to “go for it and try something new”.

Chloe said her pals felt her embarrassment when she told them the story and added: “On the page it said it was discreet and I thought that was fine.

“When I told my friends, surprisingly they asked me how it was, so the company has sold quite a few [off the back of] my [Facebook] story, I believe.”

An Amazon spokesperson said: “Amazon is investigating the issue.”
