Footage has captured the horrific moment a Jewish man was allegedly told “your religion is killing Muslims” on the London Underground last night.
The clip, published on social media platform X by the charity Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA), shows a man on a train using a vape talking to a Jewish man and making claims about his religion on Wednesday night in a vile verbal attack lasting around two minutes.
The video begins with the man sitting on the opposite side of the Tube train smoking a red vape before he moves to sit directly opposite the Jewish man filming the encounter. As the train sets off, the Jewish man questions why the other man is staring at him before he responds with the claim that his religion kills Muslims.
As the conversation continues the man, who says he is Muslim, starts blowing vaping smoke at the passenger who says he has done nothing to warrant the behaviour. In response, the man with the vape claims he has done everything to him before pointing out that the Jewish man is wearing a Kippah and claiming he kills Muslims and Judaism supports the killing of Muslims.
As the conversation continues, the Jewish man claims the person opposite is antisemitic for the offensive remarks he is making. When told what he’s doing is an “antisemitic incident” the person with the vape – whose face is blurred – says “That’s nice” and the footage ends.
A spokesperson for the CAA said: “We have been made aware that last night on the London Underground, an identifiably Jewish man noticed a fellow passenger staring aggressively at him. The passenger then began blowing the vapour from his e-cigarette in his direction. After a few minutes, the man started recording the passenger, unsure of what may happen.
“The passenger stood up and sat opposite the man. In the ensuing conversation, the passenger said: ‘Your religion kills Muslims.’”
The charity added: “He also proceeded to refer to the man’s skullcap in saying: ‘You’re wearing the hat.’ We believe it is possible that the passenger in question may be a minor, so we have blurred his face.
“He is described as a Middle Eastern male with a black ponytail between the ages of sixteen to twenty years old. British Transport Police is investigating, and we are continuing to support the victim. The incident occurred between Camden Town and Chalk Farm on a Northern line train to Edgware at approximately 19.45pm in carriage number 52585.”
It is not yet known whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Express.co.uk has contacted the British Transport Police and Campaign Against Antisemitism for comment.
Earlier this week, chief executive of the Campaign Against Antisemitism Gideon Falter, 40, told Express.co.uk that following pro-Palestinian protests earlier this month parts of London are “no-go zones” thanks to the “weekly marches” taking place in support of Palestine.
Mr Falters’ assessment was echoed by other Jewish people who told the Express just how much their experience has changed since the October 7 attacks. Natalie, not her real name, said: “I feel that I don’t want to be obviously Jewish [in public], I don’t want our children to be obviously Jewish [in public] because I think we would face abuse.
“We try and time things for when things [the protests] are finished. And I certainly wouldn’t want come out of a synagogue, crossing the march. I wouldn’t want to be wearing anything that identified myself as Jewish. I wouldn’t have a problem with our sons walking down to our local synagogue with their kippah on. I wouldn’t have a problem with that at all – now I would.”
