Moment Duchess Sophie ‘scolds’ Princess Charlotte in resurfaced video

The Duchess of Edinburgh appeared to be giving Princess Charlotte a telling off in one resurfaced video from last summer.

The Royal Family stepped out to celebrate King Charles’ first-ever Trooping The Colour last June – the first in his reign.

Princess Charlotte, eight, and her younger brother Prince Louis, five, joined the Duchess of Edinburgh on the balcony followng the ceremony.

Whilst their parents stayed on the ground, the young duo were being watched on by Sophie – who is also a mother-of-two herself.

In one viral clip, royal fans became convinced that Sophie told off young Charlotte as they watched on from the balcony.

Like many children, Charlotte appeared to be inquisitive and wanted to ask Sophie a burning question in the moment.

The Duchess, 58, then turns to Charlotte and mutters something that causes her to look away very quickly.

Viewers were quick to see this interaction and assume that Sophie had told an unimpressed Charlotte off.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to discuss the video, one fan wrote: “So is Sophie telling Charlotte ‘it’s now’ or ‘sit down’.

Commenting on this post, another fan said that they believe she told her to “sit down” – primarily based on Charlotte’s reaction.

Another fan joked that maybe Charlotte “needed to go to the bathroom” and that “Sophie told Charlotte to sit down”.

Stating on when they saw the original clip on BBC, another fan wrote: “I am no lip reader, but when BBC cut the RF observation, even I understood when the Duchess of Edinburgh told Princess Charlotte to ‘Sit Down!’ lol.”

As well the apparent telling off, Sophie and Charlotte appear to have also showcase their sweet bond.

The pair appeared to chatting and pointing out elements in the distance at the event.

Sophie and Charlotte also showed off their close bond during the balcony at the King’s Coronation last year.

It appears that not only Charlotte is close with Sophie, as she placed a supportive hand on Charlotte’s brother Prince George at the late Queen’s funeral in September 2022.
