Moment car repeatedly rams into popular pie and mash shop destroying building

A car has repeatedly rammed into a pie and mash shop, leaving onlookers horrified. Video shared on social media shows the driver of a black Mercedes slamming the vehicle into Brook Pie & Mash in Dagenham, east London.

Images of the aftermath show the shops battered shutter and wrecked interior after the car driver reversed into the eatery over and over again.

The car, which appears to have no number plate, raced off after smashing into the cafe in Dagenham Road on New Year’s Day.

A woman can be heard saying, “Oh my God”, as she watches the car ramming into the shop, while another onlooker can be heard asking, “Why?” in the footage.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said the force was called to Dagenham Road at 1.50pm on Monday to reports of a car crashing into a shop.

She said the driver had left the scene before officers arrived, but enquiries are ongoing to locate him or her.

News of the crash led to an outpouring of support on social media for the owners of the eatery.

One person wrote on Facebook: “Shame on whoever did this.” Another commented: “I’m so sorry this happened to the shop.”
