Minor Royal Family member's status has 'potential to change' thanks to King Charles

A member of the Royal Family could have her status changed under King Charles, as she could end up with a brand new title.

Lady Louise Windsor, 20, was not given a HRH title at birth under the request of her parents – Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie, who are nowadays known as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

But a royal historian has suggested King Charles may give his niece a new royal title under changes. Louise’s younger brother, James, Earl of Wessex, received a title change after the death of the late monarch.

As Prince Edward inherited the Duke of Edinburgh title, James, 16, inherited his father’s former Earl of Wessex title. If Lady Louise received a title change, she could become a working member of the family.

In an exclusive interview with GB News, Gareth Russell said: “There is the possibility that Lady Louise Windsor will become a senior working royal.

“There were rumours about that last year, and certainly, she has impressed people within the Palace. Many royal commentators as well have noticed that she is someone who seems eloquent, comfortable and at ease when she’s meeting people.

“It’s also worth noting that it is not traditional for many female royals, with the exception of the monarch’s eldest daughter who received the title of Princess Royal, to receive their own titles. It also wasn’t traditional for them to be first in line to the throne if they were born first.

“Those laws did change under Queen Elizabeth II in the later part of her reign.”

Mr Russell added that the King could make progressive changes throughout his reign.

“So it’s entirely possible that we’ll continue to see high female members of the Royal Family acquire titles under the reign of Charles III,” he said.

“It’s perfectly possible that they would do that. Certainly, it’s much more likely if she does indeed become a senior working royal, which there’s very good grounds for.”

When Charles became King, it was made clear that he was hoping to create a more modern monarchy with the help of Prince William.
