Mick Fleetwood’s iconic nightclub has been destroyed in the Maui wildfires.
The legendary drummer and co-founding member of the iconic band Fleetwood Mac detailed his heartbreak in a statement.
He’s called the island home “for several decades” and opened the restaurant, bar and nightclub – aptly called Fleetwood’s on Front St – in 2011.
Fleetwood even served as a member of the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors.
He took to social media Wednesday to highlight his “heartfelt thoughts and prayers”.
Mick wrote: “Maui and the Lahaina community have been my home for several decades.
“This is a devastating moment for Maui, and many are suffering unimaginable loss.
“Fleetwood’s on Front Street has been lost and while we are heartbroken, our main priority is the safety of our dear staff and team members.
“On behalf of myself and my family, I share my heartfelt thoughts and prayers for the people of Maui.
“We are committed to supporting the community and those affected by this disaster in the days and months and years to come.”
Thousands of Hawaii residents have been forced to flee their homes on Maui as blazes swept across the island, destroying parts of a centuries-old town and killing at least 36 people in one of the deadliest US wildfires in recent years.
According to a statement from Maui County late on Wednesday, 271 structures were damaged or destroyed and many have been injured.
The fire took the island by surprise, leaving behind burned-out cars on once busy streets and smoking piles of rubble where historic buildings had stood in Lahaina Town, which dates back to the 1700s.
Officials warned that the death toll in Hawaii could rise, with the fires still burning and teams spreading out to search charred areas.
