Michael Gove has broken his silence after being mobbed by pro-Palestine protesters yesterday.
The Cabinet minister thanked police for helping him get “home safely” after he was targeted at Victoria Station in London on Saturday.
He also thanked those who had sent him “kind messages” following the terrifying incident.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Mr Gove said: “I’m very grateful for so many kind messages in the last 24 hours.
“I’d like to thank the police for their exemplary work getting me home safely yesterday.”
Footage posted on social media showed the Levelling Up Secretary flanked by police as crowds surrounded him at the railway station on Saturday.
The flag-waving protesters chanted “shame on you” as officers ordered them to “get back”.
In another clip, Mr Gove was seen walking down a London street as demonstrators followed him and shouted.
It came on a tense day as the pro-Palestine march went ahead of Armistice Day, with counter-protesters also turning out.
The Met Police said officers made 145 arrests in total.
Home Secretary Suella Braverman today condemned “violence and aggression” from protesters and counter-protesters on Armistice Day as police charged seven people over the disorder.
