Mexican mayor under fire after hiring female strippers for Father's Day party

A Mexican mayor has run into trouble with some of his electorate after hiring strippers to perform at a Father’s Day event.

Hundreds attended Saturday’s party, in the southern town of Huehuetán, which was organised by local politican Miguel Villalobos and featured a group of female erotic dancers as part of the entertainment.

The get-together at an auditorium was filmed by one of the attendees, with footage showing the strippers dancing and even giving lap dances to attendees.

The invite for the tawdry event, posted on Villalobos’ Facebook account, made clear that women and children were barred from attending. The mayor’s caption read: “Tomorrow! Don’t forget, an event just for dads, the day has arrived.”

Depite the ‘ban’, the El Universal newspaper reports there were mothers in the building who stormed out in shock with their children in tow as the dancers started stripping.

Local feminist organization, 50+1 Collective Chiapas Chapter, condemned “sexually suggestive dances” on display.

In a collective statement, they said: “Father’s Day was conceived to highlight the importance of the father figure in people’s lives, emphasising his role in the integration and maintenance of the family nucleus.

“Therefore, it is unfortunate that the (mayor), José Manuel Angel Villalobos, on the occasion of this date, has offered a show that reproduces gender stereotypes, reducing women as sexual objects. Placing women in a place of subordination and reproducing patterns of objectification and domination constitutes symbolic violence.”

The group also called on local officials to receive proper training on gender issues to ensure that women’s rights are not violated. Mayor Villalobos had not yet addressed the event.

It comes after a stripper conned a patron out of thousands across the border.

Yannelin Rivera-Bosaw, 34, from Miami, is alleged to have plied a patron with tequila, then used his credit card and PayPal information to funnel £42,000 out of his accounts. She has since been arrested, say police.

Rivera-Bosaw was one of several women who retired to a VIP private lounge at Playmates to perform sensual lap dances for the unnamed victim, according to police officers.

Telling the victim that the erotic activity in the VIP room was free of charge, the women plied him with shots of tequila until the man became so drunk that he could no longer stand, it was alleged.

While her female colleagues gyrated at close quarters to keep the victim distracted, Rivera-Bosaw is said to have stolen the victim’s smartphone and wallet.

It wasn’t until around 4am, when the man had recovered sufficiently to be able to stand and leave the club, that the man realised he appeared to have mislaid the missing items.

Later, while checking his accounts, he noticed six PayPal withdrawals had been made to an unknown person without his knowledge or consent. On further inspection, he found various sums of money had been deducted from a number of his bank cards.

Rivera-Bosaw now faces a number of fraud-related charges, but there have been no reports of anyone else being arrested in connection with the alleged offences.
