A London court heard how a serving Metropolitan Police detective was allegedly caught performing an indecent act in a public park by a colleague. The incident is said to have occurred on March 18, while the officer was off-duty on Hampstead Heath. Detective Constable Dariusz Alexander, 48, denied a charge of committing an act of outraging public decency when he appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court in east London on Thursday.
The court was told that the alleged incident involving Mr Alexander, who is attached to the Met Operations Command, was spotted by two fellow Met officers, who were in the area investigating another case.
Varinder Hayre, prosecuting, said: “They were trying to retrieve some CCTV for a different allegation in Hampstead Heath park.
“One said he had seen a couple walking past the area, along with some others passing by.
“It was a Saturday, so children were off school.”
Mr Alexander, of Hornsey, north London, was granted unconditional bail as he awaits trial at Stratford Magistrates Court on June 22.
Scotland Yard confirmed it had suspended the 48-year-old detective from duty and had made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
The Metropolitan Police has been rocked by a series of high profile cases of police violence against women in recent times.
In February, former Metropolitan police officer David Carrick was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court to a minimum term of 32 years minus the time he has spent in custody.
He had pleaded guilty to 85 serious offences including 48 rapes, committed over a 17-year period between 2003 and 2020.

His case followed hot on the heels of that of another former Met police officer, Wayne Couzens.
The 50-year-old pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of Sarah Everard, 33, in March 2021.
He was subsequently sentenced to a whole-life jail sentence on September 30, 2021.
Mr Couzens has also recently been sentenced to another 19 months in prison for flashing at women in the weeks before he killed Ms Everard.
The former Met Police officer was supposed to be on duty and working from home when he exposed himself to a female cyclist in a country lane in Kent in November 2020.
He went on to expose himself to two female attendants at a drive-through fast food restaurant in Kent.
The last incident occurred just days before he kidnapped 33-year-old Ms Everard in south London on March 3, 2021.
