Met Office names Storm Isha and issues rare 'danger to life' warning for huge parts of UK

The Met Office has officially named a new storm which is set to bring a wave of chaos across the nation in a matter of hours. Storm Isha is set to rear her head on Sunday – sparking a rare amber weather warning, spanning 15 hours.

The ‘danger to life’ warning will come into effect from 6pm on Sunday and will cease at 9am on Monday. She is set to bring a “spell of very strong winds” to Britain, the Met Office has confirmed.

In terms of what to expect, the forecaster said there is a “good chance” of power cuts and potential for mobile phone coverage to struggle. Damage could be caused to buildings, with roof tiles expected to dislodge and blow off of roofs.

There will be longer journey times, cancellations are likely on public transport, and ferry and air services may be affected suddenly.

“Injuries and danger to life is likely from large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties,” it added.
