Met Office issues RED warning as severe downpours and winds cause danger to life


The Met Office issued a red rain alert warning residents that torrential downpours could cause a danger to life from fast flowing or deep floodwater.

The alert, which is in place from 6pm Thursday until midday the following day, could cause some areas to see 200-250 mm of rain.

The weather service also added that flooding to homes and businesses is expected.
