Met Office issues 18-hour yellow weather warning as Britain to be battered by brutal storm


The Met Office has issued three new weather warnings for snow, wind and rain.

The warnings are for Wednesday, December 27, and comes after three warnings today, December 24.

The wind warning will last from 3am to 6pm and stretches from Cornwall to Kent on the south coast of England.

There may be some delays to roads and public transport, short term power loss and large waves on the coast.

The rain warning will last from 12am to 3pm and covers all of Wales and from Cornwall to the Lake District on the west coast of England.

There may be power outages, flooding to roads, homes and businesses and delays to public transport.

The snow and rain warning will last from 6am to 12am and covers from Fraserberg to Berwick-upon-Tweed on the east coast of Scotland.

Small communities could be cut off, homes and businesses could be damaged, flooding could lead to dangerous road conditions and powerlines and mobile coverage could be affected.

Christmas Eve will be very windy, especially for northeast England and Scotland, with severe gales possible. It will turn cooler in the north with sunny spells and showers. And it will be rather cloudy further south with outbreaks of rain and drizzle.

On Christmas Day, rain will spread across Wales and central England with further rain and hill snow for Scotland. Brighter breaks will be possible in between.

Boxing Day will be drier and brighter for many with sunny spells. It will become unsettled again from Wednesday with strong winds, heavy rain, and snow over hills in the north.
