Mehgan Markle was 'disappointed' by royal life and 'hated being told what to do'

Meghan Markle once told a Kensington Palace staffer she was “hugely disappointed” in Royal Family life, a new book has claimed. Royal biographer Tom Quinn has outlined how the Duchess of Sussex, then a working royal with her husband Prince Harry, hated “being told what she could and could not do”. Mr Quinn said the insider told him the Duchess discovered she had made an “historic” blunder as she adjusted to life in the Firm.

Writing in his new book Gilded Youth, the biographer claimed to have spoken to a “Kensington Palace staffer who remembered Meghan well”.

He said the insider told him that “in the whole of history”, there had never been a “greater divide” between what someone expected of royal life and the reality.

They added Meghan was a “global superstar” but “hated” having her life dictated by the royal household.

Other sources reportedly said the Duchess was “dazzled” by the prospect of becoming a Princess but was less keen on the reality of public service.

Since she and Prince Harry publicly stepped back from senior working royals in 2020, Meghan has spoken at length about the experience.

When speaking in their popular Netflix documentary series Harry and Meghan, she claimed she was ill-prepared for her addition to the Royal Family.

She told a documentary crew there was “no class” for prospective family members.

The Duchess added there didn’t exist “some person” who told her how to sit, how to use a fork, when to curtsy and the type of hat to wear.
