Meghan Markle looked “uncomfortable” during a now-famous walkabout with her husband Prince Harry, Prince William and Princess Catherine, according to a royal expert. The comments come after a new royal book claimed that Kate, Princess of Wales called the impromptu stroll after the Queen’s death the “hardest thing she ever had to do”.
The Windsor walkabout took place two days after Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022 – Prince William and Princess Kate appeared with Meghan and Harry to greet mourners.
“Catherine later admitted to a senior royal that, such was the ill feeling between the two couples, the joint walkabout was one of the hardest things she’d ever had to do,” the author Robert Jobson wrote in his new book Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, per reporting by the Daily Mail.
However, it wasn’t Kate who appeared “uncomfortable” at the event, claimed a royal expert. LA-based royal watcher Kinsey Schofield gave her opinion of the couples’ appearance that sombre day.
She said: “Robert Jobson has a new book coming out later this month called Our King where he talks about how incredibly uncomfortable Catherine, Princess of Wales was during that walkabout after the Queen passed away where we saw Prince William, Prince Harry, Catherine and Meghan Markle pull up together and greet people.”
The rift between the royals has only grown since the Queen’s funeral in September of last year. In December 2022, Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan Markle, 41, released a Netflix series detailing their relationship and eventual split from the Firm.
In January 2023, the Duke of Sussex released a tell-all memoir which rocked the royal sphere with numerous allegations against his family. This included claims detailing an alleged physical altercation between Prince Harry and Prince William, 40.
Despite the tensions, Meghan and Harry have been invited to the King’s Coronation on May 6 next month. Although the invitations went out earlier this year, the Sussexes have not yet publicly RSVP’d.
