Meghan missed major olive branch from Charles in show of 'gracelessness'

Meghan Markle has been slammed for being “gracelessness” for refusing to attend King’s Coronation even being included in the official souvenir programme for the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. King Charles appears to have extended an olive branch to the Sussexes as a family portrait taken to mark his 70th birthday in 2018 is displayed in the 84-page magazine.

Prince Harry has confirmed attending his father’s Coronation while Meghan will be staying home in California with the couple’s children, Archie and Lilibet.

Daily Mail’s Diary editor, Richard Eden blasted Meghan Markle as she “threw away” King’s olive branch by not attending the Coronation.

He wrote: “It shows the King’s graciousness that he wrote to Meghan at all.

“And it’s yet another example of Meghan’s gracelessness that she threw away his olive branch.”

A family portrait from 2018 is featured, showing Charles and Camilla, then the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall; Prince William and Kate Middleton, previously the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and their three children.

It was taken to mark Charles’s 70th birthday in 2018 and came six months after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

Last week, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Harry will be attending the coronation on May 6, after months of speculation over his presence.

However, Meghan will remain at their California home with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The Coronation falls on the same day as Archie’s fourth birthday and is said to have been a factor in the couple’s decision.

According to The Telegraph, Harry held “peace talks” with his father before confirming his attendance at the Coronation.

The King is reportedly “very disappointed” he won’t see Meghan and his grandchildren at the Coronation.

A source said: “The King is happy that Harry, his son, who he calls his ‘darling boy’ will be at the Abbey. He wanted him there.

“It is sad, he is very disappointed that he won’t see Meghan or his grandchildren but understands the situation.”

The King and Meghan were said to be very close, with Charles walking the Duchess down the aisle in the absence of her own father during her wedding to Prince Harry.

In the Sussexes Netflix docuseries, Meghan opened up about asking Charles to step into the role.

She said: “Harry’s dad is very charming and I said to him, I’ve lost my dad in this. So him as my father-in-law is very important to me. So I asked him to walk me down the aisle and he said ‘yes.’”
