Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha Markle slammed the Duchess after appearing in federal court in an attempt to stop her libel against Meghan from being thrown out.
Samantha Markle, 58, claims that Meghan Markle, 42, defamed her during a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey and in a 2022 Netflix docuseries released by her and her husband Prince Harry.
She says that Meghan implied that Samantha wasn’t around when she told Oprah she grew up as an “only child”.
Samantha said: “My brother [Thomas Markle Jr] and I were very clear that we were integral in her life until 12.
“We taught her how to walk…we took her to school, we went to the duck pond – we were normal brothers and sisters.”
Despite being a large part of Meghan’s life when she was a child, Samantha rebukes any claim that she “raised” her.
Speaking to The US Sun, she said: “Saying we were integral in her life until 12 and were normal brothers and sisters is very different from saying we raised her.”
She said she was “optimistic” that her claim against Meghan would be allowed to go to trial.
