Meghan Markle's 'silly move' torn apart by expert following latest Instagram launch

She told Express.co.uk: “This move is not without its controversies, especially concerning the use of her royal title in branding efforts.

“I think this was a silly move from her – and it raises pertinent questions about the balance between leveraging one’s unique position and the responsibilities that come with it.

“If she doesn’t want the work that comes with the title, as her PR manager, I would have advised her to not use it for a personal brand that has nothing to do with public service. “

Meghan Markle’s new brand and its niche are said to coincide with the launch of a new cooking show on Netflix.

The Instagram account went viral ever since its launch and had amassed 361,000 followers as of Friday afternoon.

Ms Smith added Meghan’s decision to venture into the lifestyle/influencer domain instead of taking a different career direction was “notable” considering her “past experiences with public and media scrutiny”.

The expert explained: “While a pivot towards philanthropy would, in my opinion, be a more straightforward path to rehabilitating public image, the choice to establish a lifestyle brand is not surprising if we consider what we know about her personality and priorities.

“So it could also be seen as an exercise in personal brand control and narrative autonomy.”
