Meghan Markle's public 'silence' to end as she boosts profile with 'powerful new friends'

Meghan Markle may soon be making a return to the spotlight with the help of her “powerful new friends”, according to a PR expert.

Since moving to California with Prince Harry, where they are raising their young family, Meghan’s friendship circle has somewhat shifted, as she has drifted apart from some people while growing closer to others.

The friends who attended their wedding in May 2018, such as David and Victoria Beckham and George and Amal Clooney, are no longer so close to the Sussexes.

The Beckhams in particular were said to be “furious” over claims that they leaked stories about Harry and Meghan to the press, spelling the end of their friendship.

Now, however, the couple has gained new pals, with rumours over Meghan’s supposed political ambitions gaining traction as she and Harry decide what to do next.

A showbiz PR expert told the Mail on Sunday: “Meghan has been uncharacteristically quiet in the public domain. But she has powerful new friends, so don’t expect the silence to last long.”

While former best friend Jessica Mulroney and childhood pal Ninaki Priddy are out, Ellen DeGeneres, celebrity hairdresser Amanda Leone and Hollywood agent Ari Emanuel are in, with Meghan signing to the latter’s talent agency William Morris Endeavour in April.

Huge American TV personalities Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King are also on good terms with the Sussexes, as King is reportedly also trying to bag a big TV interview with the Duchess.

In the political sphere, Meghan’s friendships have fluctuated, as she is now less close to the Obamas and now focusing on her friendship with the Kennedys.

A Democrat donor said: “There was an expectation that we would see Meghan and Harry at events with the Obamas, but there has been nothing.

“Everyone was initially talking about how the Obamas had taken the Sussexes under their wing. But if that was once the case, it doesn’t appear to be so now.”

They added: “There has been a lot of talk about Meghan cosying up to the east coast Kennedys.”

Kerry Kennedy, daughter of politician Robert Kennedy who was assassinated in 1968, has praised Meghan for her “heroic stance” in standing up to “structural racism” in the Royal Family.

However, an embarrassing moment allegedly occurred last year when President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden refused to give Harry and Meghan a lift back to the US in Air Force One after Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
