Now, the couple’s comments, particularly those made by Meghan Markle, have apparently been “vindicated” by the recent controversial article written for The Sun by motoring expert and TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
Speaking to Sky News Australia, TalkTV’s royal editor Sarah Hewson said: “I think what Jeremy Clarkson’s article in The Sun did, where he talked about his visceral hatred of Meghan… actually vindicated a lot of what they had said in the documentary about the things that had been written about them in the press.”
She added Meghan “had talked about the death threats that stemmed from the kind of coverage that she had received.”
Speaking of Mr Clarkson’s article, which had since been taken down at Mr Clarkson’s request, Ms Hewson said: “It was a hugely controversial article”.
Ms Hewson noted since the controversy began, Mr Clarkson issued a “kind-of half apology” and The Sun had “also now apologised”, acknowledging it was “wrong” to publish.

She also discussed how the apologies were “rejected” by Meghan and Harry, according to their people, who issued a statement.
The team, on behalf of the Sussexes, stated they believed it was a “nothing more than a PR stunt”.
Speaking to Ms Hewson, host James Morrow also spoke about another article “floating about” about the Duchess of Sussex.
An article, written by Politico Magazine, listed Meghan as a narcissist and compared the 41-year-old to the likes of Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

According to Ms Hewson, the Politico Magazine article has been criticised by “not just by supporters of Meghan, but widely in the press”.
IT stated that “you cannot put Meghan in the same ranks as those [people].
Speaking of the two recent articles, Ms Hewson said that they fit “into their narrative about the way in which [Meghan] is portrayed in the media”.
