Meghan Markle's part in Prince Harry's possible return to the Royal Family revealed

A royal expert has weighed in on the part Meghan Markle may or may not play should Prince Harry choose to come back to the Royal Family in a “temporary role”.

The couple are no longer working royals and have relocated to California with their young family, however with King Charles now battling cancer, some commentators have speculated about a possible comeback for Harry.

But royal author Tom Quinn believes that whatever the Duke of Sussex decides to do, his wife will not be welcomed back with open arms, and nor would she want to be.

He told The Mirror: “Even if Harry was allowed back temporarily his wife would not be part of the package. Harry will not move back to the UK without Meghan – not even for a few months. But he had to make the offer because anything else would have looked callous and uncaring.”

When Harry was told about his father’s illness he “immediately wanted to do something practical to help”, even though he knew his offer would be “rejected”.

Mr Quinn added: “Harry knows he will never be allowed to be a permanent part-time working royal staying six months in the States and then six months in the UK.

“The family no longer trust him and, besides, Meghan is absolutely against it. There is far too much bad blood now for it to be even a remote possibility.”

The Duke has been vocal in his criticism of the Royal Family over the past few years, particularly in his memoir Spare, where he expressed his negative feelings towards Prince William and Queen Camilla, among others.
