Meghan Markle's pal accuses King Charles of 'ridiculous and out of touch' move in Kenya

Meghan Markle’s friend and former biographer Omid Scobie has accused King Charles of being “ridiculous and out of touch” during one of his engagements on his state visit to Kenya.

On Wednesday, the King and Queen visited Nairobi National Park, but Mr Scobie argued their arrival at the park raises questions.

He noted that a red carpet was laid on the soil awaiting their arrival, and the royal couple later walked along the carpet to reach their destination.

Mr Scobie wrote on X, formally Twitter,: “Even if this was a choice made by the hosts (and it probably was), the optics of the King and Queen walking on a red carpet to avoid soil at Nairobi National Park are pretty ridiculous and out of touch.

“A clued up Palace aide could have easily asked for it to be removed.”

ITV’s Chris Ship quickly pointed out that the Queen was wearing hiking boots at the Sheldrick Trust elephant orphanage where there was no red carpet, and added: “So, why not again for this visit?”
