Meghan Markle beamed with enthusiasm as she visited the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on March 21.
New photos taken from her heartwarming visit have been released, which showed the 42-year-old engaging with the children and reading to them.
The Duchess of Sussex, who is a mum-of-two herself, looked relaxed as she interacted and posed for pictures with the children to mark the special visit.
Her trip to the hopsital came towards the end of the month to highlight their ‘Mark March Matter’ campaign, an annual fundraiser for the hospital, with Meghan also helping the children to do activities such as counting and problem solving.
Despite stepping down as a working royal in 2020, the visit appeared ‘very royal-like’ and seemingly mimicked previous engagements that she carried out as a member of the Royal Family.
Everything from her outfit to the way she interacted with the children and their families mimics the role of a senior working royal.
Meghan visited many charities and hospitals when she was part of the Firm, and even held various patrons in support of some of them.
The Duches of Sussex did, however, shy away from displaying a typical form of royal protocol and hugged the children – all of whom appeared delighted by her visit.
It also differed greatly from her other visits of late where she’s headed to art galleries and stepped out with celebrities such as Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland and Hollywood actress Kerry Washington at a Beyonce gig.
It suggest Meghan is harking back to her royal roots and taking a leaf out of the Palace’s rule book.
The Duchess has been praised for the visit in, what appears to be, some positive coverage for the mother-of-two.
Royal expert Jennie Bond even said that it’s her “best performance” since marrying into the Royal Family.
Stating that she “nailed” the readings – which saw her read aloud three of her favourite books to the children – the expert also praised Meghan for making the books “come alive” despite wearing a face mask.
