Meghan Markle's Instagram 'looks a mess' with two major 'outdated' mistakes in her launch

Meghan Markle’s Instagram has been branded “a mess” as one PR expert pinpoints two “outdated” mistakes in her brand launch.

The Duchess of Sussex launched her new brand American Riviera Orchard last month, with the release of a new website and Instagram account.

The 42-year-old has so far failed to post any more content since March 14 – the date of the brand’s launch.

American Riviera Orchard is thought to be a lifestyle brand which will reportedly sell all kinds of items from home decor to pet products.

Speaking about her Instagram account, BIG little LDN founder Emma Lloyd said that the Duchess of Sussex has made two major mistakes in her latest launch.

Ms Lloyd told Express.co.uk: “American Riviera Orchard has used a very dated method of posting their teaser on Instagram -multiple images with very little in each to make up one large image.

“This is not how people engage with content on the channel. People don’t view channels in their entirety first, they view a single post in their feed.”

She added: “So, if the algorithm is only serving one of those uninspiring beige images at a time, why would anyone feel compelled to click on it to find out more?

“Plus, as soon as they start posting more content, that big image will start to get broken up and won’t make any sense. It’ll look a mess.”

Speaking of the second mistake, the expert added: “Additionally, when Meghan posted an Instagram Story teaser, it was designed for landscape viewing – 16:9 format – not the vertical 9:16 format of an Instagram Story.

“What had been produced was a very polished TV ad style post for a channel people go to for more authentic, unpolished content.”

Meghan’s new Instagram account did, however, go viral overnight and has since surpassed 586,000 followers as of today, April 5.

Despite the number of followers, a marketing expert has suggested that it has a “significant” amount of fake followers.

Speaking to the Mirror, Stacey Wong from digital marketing agency Own Your Space said: “The Instagram for American Riviera Orchard showcases a robust following of over half a million, a testament to her powerful personal brand and appeal.

“However, the presence of a 13.77 percent ‘fake follower’ metric reveals a common challenge in digital brand management.

“Navigating this landscape requires strategic engagement and authentic content to maintain and enhance brand integrity.”
