Meghan Markle's big plan to make her millions before marrying Prince Harry

Meghan Markle’s plan to make her millions before marrying Prince Harry involved selling sweets with a friend.

In 2012, the Duchess of Sussex and a friend filed paperwork to trademark the name of their lollipop company.

They wanted to protect the name ‘Lali’, with plans to sell a line of lollies and candy drops, according to TMZ.

Having joined Suits in 2011, the Duchess was already well-known for playing paralegal Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama.

She stayed on the show for seven years until 2018 – but the lollipop company idea was abandoned years earlier in 2014.

Meghan first met Prince Harry just two years later in 2016, after being introduced by mutual friend Violet von Westenholz.

Their first date was at Soho House’s Dean Street Townhouse in London after Harry saw Meghan on Violet’s Instagram.

The Duke and Duchess later spoke about the start of their relationship on their Netflix show.

Prince Harry revealed: “Meghan and I met over Instagram. I was scrolling through my feed and a friend had this video of the two of them, it was like a Snapchat…”

Meghan interjected: “Oh gosh, isn’t that whole thing it’s got like doggy filters, and that’s what he saw of me.”

Harry agreed: “That was the first thing, I was like: ‘who is that?'”
