Meghan Markle will not return to the UK even if Prince Harry is 'house hunting' in Britain

Meghan Markle will not return to life in the UK even if Prince Harry pushes ahead with his possible plans to buy a home here, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess left the UK and the royals behind in 2020, as they moved to Montecito in California to raise their family and build their careers.

However there has been speculation that Harry is missing home, and as he spends more time over here with various ventures he may be looking for a permanent base.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk that Meghan is unlikely to make a comeback on British soil, and will not want to bring her children over here either.

He explained: “It does seem unlikely that Meghan will be visiting Britain any time soon. The same, in the short term anyway, applies to Archie and Lili.

“I see no substance to the rumour that Harry will split his time between the United States and Britain. He has serious concerns about security and still has a case pending against the Home Office regarding this which is awaiting trial.

“It is obviously important is that there there is an arrangement, probably, though not necessarily with the Royal Family, which gives him a secure permanent base which he can use when he does visit Britain.”

Harry and Meghan previously used Frogmore Cottage as their UK home, which was given to them by Queen Elizabeth after their marriage in 2018, however they were asked by King Charles to leave the property after the publication of Spare in January.

Recently Harry has flown over to the UK for court hearings regarding his privacy case, as well as a brief stop at his father King Charles’s Coronation and for an appearance at the WellChild Awards.

Meghan has not been with him during any of these times, as she stayed in Montecito with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

It was reported that last month he had requested to stay at Windsor Castle while attending the awards ceremony in London, but the King denied him.

It therefore seems unlikely that he will receive any royal assistance when it comes to finding a UK home.

A source told OK! regarding Harry’s house hunting: “There is a divide between the couple [the Duke and Duchess] on this issue but they will soon start looking for a property of their own near London and Harry is very much leading this.

“Making use of a small apartment in Kensington Palace from time to time isn’t out of the question, but when it comes to a home in the UK, they will purchase that themselves.”

The source also claimed that no decision had been made on where to educate Archie and Lilibet, who have very little contact with their extended family.
