Meghan Markle 'was looking for way out' of Royal Family 'from the start', expert claims

Meghan Markle was “constantly casting herself as the victim” and was “looking for a way out” as soon as she arrived in the Royal Family, it has been claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, have been critical of the royals in recent years as they explain why they left the Firm.

But Valentine Low, a former royal correspondent, has claimed that Palace staff were not convinced of Meghan’s commitment to the Royal Family from the off.

He told The Sun: “She’d been well-briefed and was perfectly happy to spout her brief on air about what the future might be for her. She did some very interesting things.

“But I also know that for all the great potential she showed, if you talk to people on the inside, they believe rightly or wrongly that she was constantly casting herself as a victim.

“Saying ‘You don’t want me, you think I’m going to fail, I’m not welcome really’.

“It’s as if, they believe, she was looking for a way out from the very beginning.”

When their departure from the Royal Family was announced in 2020, Harry and Meghan originally suggested what was branded a “half in, half out” plan.

It would have seen them still carry out public engagement on behalf of the crown while also giving them the opportunity to do their own projects.

But this plan was reportedly flatly rejected by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Harry has previously claimed that he felt “forced” to leave the royals and that the decision had caused “great sadness” for both he and Meghan.

During an interview with Good Morning America earlier this month, Harry discussed flying back to the UK to see King Charles after he was diagnosed with cancer

He said: “I spoke to him. I jumped on a plane and went to go and see him as soon as I could.

“I love my family. The fact I was able to get on a plane and see him and spend any time with him – I’m grateful for that.”
