Meghan Markle 'wants to be leading lady' and will 'definitely go back to acting' – expert

Meghan Markle “wants to be a leading lady” an expert has claimed as he tipped the Duchess of Sussex will make a return to acting. Before marrying Prince Harry Meghan has a successful career in the hit US legal drama Suits. Mark Boardman, a showbiz writer and media commentator believes she could return to her former career as it would enable her to “show her real self”.

The writer is confident Meghan and Harry’s six-part documentary series which premiered on Netflix last year will be nominated for a prestigious Emmy Award with a possible chance of winning.

But he believes if such a nomination fails to materialize, Meghan – who starred in the hit US legal drama series Suits for several years before meeting Harry – could return to her former career.

When asked if the former actress could return to acting if the couple fail to receive an Emmy nomination, the entertainment editor at MarkMeets said: “Absolutely.

“Meghan obviously has the children to worry about but acting is definitely going to be in the pipeline.

“Meghan wants to be a leading lady and she will definitely go back into acting. She needs to find her own career and identity.

“She would be great going for the smaller, leading lady roles. That is her chance to show her real self.”

Commenting on the possibility of the couple winning an Emmy Mr Boardman said there is a “good chance” and he is “100 percent confident it will get nominated”.

He added: “I have looked at all of the possible categories and it is the most high-profile documentary series within that category.

“So it has to be there, even though the nominations have not yet officially been revealed. It just adds to Harry and Meghan’s enduring appeal.”

Last month, Netflix issued a statement confirming their relationship with the Sussexes was in tact after Spotify axed their agreement saying it had come to a mutual end.

In a statement, Netflix insisted the company’s “exciting journey” with them “isn’t ending anytime soon”.

A spokesperson for the online streaming giant told Entertainment Tonight: “The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry and Meghan launched as Netflix’s most spectacular documentary debut to date.

“Our exciting journey with them isn’t ending anytime soon. We’re currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus.”
