Meghan Markle 'unable to' follow Princess Kate's lead and instead 'burned out quickly'

Meghan Markle would “unable” to follow the Princess of Wales’ lead into life as a royal, one royal expert has suggested.

The former actress, 42, married Prince Harry in 2018, officially making her the Duchess of Sussex. Kate, also 42, married Prince William in 2011.

Speaking to GB News, the Mail’s editor Charlotte Griffiths told host Mark Dolan: “Kate can give things time.

“She has that ability to play that long game and Meghan wasn’t able to.”

Speaking of Meghan, the expert added: “She just tied herself in knots and burned out quite quickly. Her start went like that.”

Speaking of Kate, Ms Griffiths added: “What Kate’s done, which is what she is brilliant at, is just stood back, stayed calm, stayed quiet, and just waited for Harry and Meghan to thrash it out.

“They have tied themselves in knots, and thrown lurid accusations her way via their royal biographer.”

Additionally, praising Kate, she added: “And she’s stayed calm, stayed quiet and she’s emerged the victor We always used to tease her, the tabloid media for being ‘weighty Katie’.

“But actually, it’s kind of a positive thing because she’s just waiting it out and she looks fabulous at 42.”

Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties, alongside Prince Harry, at the start of 2020.

The pair had been married less than two years at the time, but aired the following year – via their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey – how difficult they found their journey as royals.

One royal expert previously claimed that Meghan “wasn’t prepared” for the realities of royal life.

Speaking previously to Express US, author Tom Quinn said: Meghan comes from a society where if you’re talented and driven, you can get to the top.”

He added: “She just wasn’t prepared. She didn’t realise this.”

Further speaking about the Duchess of Sussex, Mr Quinn added: “It’s obvious when you think about it, but I think she thought she could come into the Royal Family and be the star.

“And of course, she [Meghan] couldn’t because the monarchical structures are medieval, they’re rigid.”
