Meghan Markle 'threw the kitchen sink' at her outfits as a royal but failed to blend in

Meghan Markle “threw the kitchen sink” at her royal wardrobe, but has a fundamentally different personal style from that of other senior royal women, according to a fashion expert.

The Duchess of Sussex claimed in her Netflix documentary that before stepping down from the Firm she “rarely wore colour” on public engagements to try and “blend in” and avoid causing embarrassment by accidentally wearing a similar outfit to someone else.

However, style expert Miranda Holder believes that Meghan may have stuck out due to her American “dress for success” approach to fashion, in contrast to the more “relatable” style of royals such as Princess Kate who want to make an effort to seem more down-to-earth.

She told Express.co.uk: “In contrast to Kate, Meghan comes from the glamorous American film and television industry, in which it is customary to ‘dress for success’ and ‘look the part’ by wearing the very best pieces you can afford.

“Although Meghan admits she did attempt to dress down in neutrals when she was a working member of the Royal Family in an attempt to fit in, she still ‘threw the kitchen sink at it’ sartorially speaking, by pulling on super brands such as Christian Dior for many of her big moments.”
