Meghan Markle stuns royal fan with surprise meeting as Duchess praised for her empathy

A French competitor who was pictured holding hands and speaking to Meghan Markle during this year’s Invictus Games in Germany has shared her story.

In a sweet tribute to the Duchess of Sussex, the Team France woman praised her for the “gratitude, empathy and respect” she showed during their short meeting.

In the picture, taken by photographer and friend of the royal couple Misan Harriman, the woman can be seen listening as Meghan speaks to her, all whilst holding hands.

On an Instagram post, the French athlete – who is part of the sitting volleyball team – said: “The Duchess of Sussex and…yep, that’s me. How did I end up in this situation ?! Here comes the story…”

She went on to add how that whilst initially she wouldn’t have spotted Meghan if it wasn’t for her friend pointing her out, the royal eventually approached her herself and was more than willing to have a chat.

The Team France member explained: “By some sheer luck and thanks to JC who spotted her, I found myself on her path.

“And the thing is…she stopped and took some time to speak with me.”

The woman also praised the photographer who “perfectly captured” the sweet moment which, she said “is the embodiment of mutual gratitude, empathy and respect”.

She also revealed Meghan spoke in French when she realised she was from Team France.

“‘Merci’, that’s what she said to me when she knew we were French. ‘Merci à vous’ is what I replied.”

Harriman shared more images of the Sussexes at the Invictus Games, with one showing Meghan watching her husband practise his speech, whilst another one showed the Duchess placing her hand on Harry’s back.

The photographer has been associated with the Sussexes for quite a while.

In 2021, he photographed Harry and Meghan’s pregnancy announcement pictures.

A year later he was also the one to capture Lilibet’s first birthday picture.

The photographer has worked with some of the world’s biggest stars, including actresses Olivia Colman and Angelina Jolie.
