Meghan Markle still has 'long way to go' before she returns to UK, royal expert claims

He further commented: “There is a miraculous irony in this only made possible by the world-beating hypocrisy of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

This comes as Prince Harry prepares to return to the UK for the Invictus Games anniversary in just over a week.

It’s reported that King Charles has “left the door open” for a face-to-face meeting with the potential for “reconciliation.”

While Harry is set to return home, it’s highly likely that Meghan will not accompany him.

Meghan will not be joining Harry for an in-person meeting with King Charles, as she remains in Montecito, California, with their children, Archie and Lilibet.

Concerns have been raised that her presence might “overshadow the message of the service.”

The news emerges amidst King Charles’s plans to resume his royal engagements after his cancer diagnosis.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun that while the monarch is open to a dialogue with Harry, it doesn’t guarantee a “warm reception.”

“The King has always kept the door open to Harry, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he would invariably get a warm reception,” said Fitzwilliams.

He further commented on the complexity of reconciliation: “It will take its time. But clearly the situation has changed in recent weeks beyond all expectations.

“I don’t think it would be too difficult, it depends how you define reconcile. I think there’s a long way to go before Harry is bringing over Meghan and the children.”

Fitzwilliams also addressed the issue of trust regarding Meghan, labelling her as “toxic” and suggesting that significant efforts are required to rebuild confidence before any meetings with King Charles could occur.

He remarked: “Meghan is toxic. I’m not saying the Sussexes would launch any attacks to the Royal Family at this sort of time. But what is very, very clear is that if they want to build trust, they have a long way to go.

“I never thought that Meghan would come over because of the hostility towards her here, but one has to emphasize that it’s obvious from the opinion polls. And of course, you’d get a press that was far from flattering, but that is linked to the Sussexes’ behaviour over the last four years.”
