Meghan Markle spotted without her engagement ring again – but it's not what you'd expect

Prince Harry proposed to Meghan Markle with a stunning trilogy ring, featuring one large diamond flanked by a smaller one on each side. In recent weeks the Duchess has been pictured without it.

Express.co.uk previously spoke to luxury diamond jewellers We Love Diamonds about the fantastic sparkler.

The experts called the engagment ring, estimated at around £140,000, an “exquisite” piece with true sentimental value, having been “personally designed” by Prince Harry.

The central stone of the ring was a 3ct diamond sourced from Botswana, where Prince Harry spent time during childhood and later enjoyed his five-day-long third date with Meghan.

It is flanked by two smaller diamonds (around 1ct each), selected from Princess Diana’s personal collection. This sweet addition means that she is part of their journey, despite sadly having never met Meghan.

The experts continued: “Meghan’s engagement ring is valued at around £200,000 to £250,000 by We Love Diamonds but that value is of course dramatically compounded by at least tenfold given its unique provenance.”

Meghan has made some slight adjustments to her ring including having it re-sized and re-set it with a thinner eternity band set with pavè diamonds.

This was thought to have been done by Lorraine Schwartz, who is responsible for some of the most iconic jewellery moments of the 21st century.

Lorraine Schwartz also helped to create Meghan’s eternity ring, a gift to mark the couple’s first wedding anniversary with a touching nod to son Archie.

With Meghan being snapped by cameras all the time, people have noticed that recently she has not been wearing her engagement ring.

PEOPLE understands that the sparkler is currently being serviced because a setting came loose.

This week Meghan has been pictured in Düsseldorf for the Invictus Games, but she has not been wearing her engagement ring. This doesn’t mean she is going sans jewels, however, instead sporting a sparkly pinky ring worth around £56,000.

In mid-August, Meghan was pictured beaming with her arms thrown around her friends Kadi Lee and Cleo Wade.

Meghan attended two Renaissance World Tour Beyoncé concerts this month and it is unclear whether she wore her engagement ring to either. She attended once with Prince Harry in tow, and a second time with friends.

Recently, Laura Taylor, an engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, told Express.co.uk that the updated micro pavè design of the ring may make it “fragile”.

“For those considering a micro pave, we usually suggest that the ring is only worn occasionally and that extra care is taken. This is because a slight knock to the ring can dislodge the diamonds and warp the band.

“Dirt can easily get trapped between the tiny diamonds and build up over time, so wearing it less frequently also helps to keep the ring in good condition.”

The expert also suggested that the Duchess could have accidentally knocked the ring and lost some diamonds or damaged the band, which would then need to be sent away for repair.
