Meghan Markle shared touching memories of her close relationship with the late Queen, describing her as a shining example for women.
Reflecting on her time with the Queen, Meghan called her a “shining example” of female leadership, and praised the “beautiful legacy” she left behind.
She told Variety: “What’s so beautiful is to look at the legacy that [Harry’s] grandmother was able to leave on so many fronts. Certainly, in terms of female leadership, she is the most shining example of what that looks like.”
Despite the complexities of royal life, Meghan expressed gratitude for the special moments she shared with the Queen, filled with laughter and heartfelt conversations.
She added: “I feel deep gratitude to have been able to spend time with her and get to know her. It’s been a complicated time, but my husband, ever the optimist, said, ‘Now she’s reunited with her husband’.”

Recalling her first official engagement with the Queen, Meghan reminisced about the warmth she felt and the pride she held for their bond.
She said: “I’ve reflected on that first official engagement that I had with her, how special that felt. I feel fortunate. And I continue to be proud to have had a nice warmth with the matriarch of the family.”
Reports from W magazine suggested that the Queen made a “particular effort” to welcome Meghan into the royal fold, maintaining constant communication with her.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe noted the unique closeness between Meghan and the Queen, highlighting Meghan’s swift integration into royal traditions and events.
