Meghan Markle savaged over one 'awkward' detail in new coffee advert

Meghan Markle has been savaged after an expert spotted one “awkward” detail during her cameo appearance in a coffee company’s social media clip.

The former royal, 42, appeared in the background in a new video posted by coffee brand Clevr Blends.

The video, which was shared to company’s social media platforms, shows Meghan packing orders and working with the online team.

At the end of the clip, Meghan is seen giving another staff member a fist bump as the owner, and Meghan’s friend, Grace Mendoza discusses a “successful year”.

Meghan’s small return to acting has sparked a host of mixed reviews, with GB News hosts Ben Leo and Emily Carver referring to the Duchess of Sussex’s cameo as “awkward”.

Discussing Meghan’s latest appearance, royal correspondent Cameron Walker said that the former actress is “very much no longer a working royal”.

He said: “Meghan Markle is brushing up on her acting skills there. I think it just shows that she is very much no longer a working member of the Royal Family, very much going down the Hollywood route and indeed the social media route.”

Speaking of the clip, he added: “She’s not mentioned, she’s always in the background, and then does a bit of an awkward fist bump which doesn’t quite work, and then a bit of a blooper.”

Meghan is known to have frequently endorsed the brand by sending samples to multiple friends, including Oprah Winfrey.

Mr Walker added: “So this company Clevr Blends, she actually has invested a lot of money in this.

“She previously appeared in a video advertising this coffee brand earlier this year and again we’ve just seen her in this latest video with the co-founder Hannah Mendoza, who it’s thought is quite good friends with Meghan Markle.

“So I think this just shows Meghan is very much being Hollywood rather than the royal.”

After analysing the new video, brand and culture expert Nick Ede has said that it appears to show Meghan’s “fun” side.

Speaking to MailOnline, he said: “This ‘fun’ side to Meghan is a clever way of the brand Clevr to get a lot of social media traction and engagement by using their famous investor.

“It’s also a way of showing Meghan in a new light that is both fun and frivolous. Does it work?

“I think that Meghan is now such a polarising figure that comments on the social media post are negative and not celebratory which is a shame, as the post was meant to be a showing off the success and hard work of the business.”
