Meghan Markle was snapped without her expensive engagement ring in a new picture posted on Instagram.
The picture shows a beaming Duchess of Sussex alongside two friends, but observers were quick to spot the missing engagement ring on her finger.
Unearthed accounts show that Meghan normally wears the diamond engagement ring above her gold wedding ring, and diamond eternity ring.
It comes amid speculation Meghan and her husband Prince Harry have spent more time apart over the past few months.
In the picture, Meghan is seen enjoying a birthday catch-up with friends Kadi Lee and Cleo Wade.
The threesome’s picture was posted on Kadi’s Highbrow Hippie Instagram page two weeks after Meghan marked her 42nd birthday.
But the absence of Meghan’s engagement ring got royal fans talking.
One wrote: “I wonder what has happened to the engagement ring?”
Another said: “She looks so well. Perhaps her ring was sent for resizing.”
Prince Harry designed the wedding band alongside the help of Cleave & Company, the jeweler of choice for his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.
Two side stones from his mother Princess Diana’s jewelry collection were used within it, and it featured a cushion-cut centre diamond from Botswana – a place the couple spent time together early on in their relationship.
Speaking in 2017 after her engagement was announced, Meghan said: “It’s beautiful, and he designed it, it’s incredible.”
Two years later, the Duchess of Sussex upgraded the ring, replacing its original gold band with a thin micro-pave one.
The couple have in recent weeks spent time apart, with Harry and Meghan carrying out different duties throughout August.
Among the trips carried out by Harry included a visit to Japan and Singapore.
Instead, Meghan opted to remain in California with their two young children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
As well as marking her birthday on August 4, Meghan also attended a Taylor Swift concert last week.
