Meghan Markle has been tipped to cash in on a “huge payout” thanks to a new audiobook agreement.
The Duchess of Sussex is said to be “thrilled” at the prospect of signing a deal with Amazon’s multi-million podcast production partner Audible.
The new project comes mere months after Meghan and Prince Harry’s contract with music streaming platform Spotify collapsed.
But a source close to the Duchess is now claiming she is on the verge of an exciting new strategy that will “make or break her Hollywood dream”.
They suggested the contract comes with a “huge payout” for the Duchess – and will see her join other US celebrities in the world of audiobook production.
The source said: “Word of mouth is spreading that it will lead to a huge payout – even bigger than the millions Spotify splashed out.
“And Meghan is thrilled that she’ll be in the company of Michelle and Barack Obama.”
They noted the loss of the Spotify deal was a “massive blow” for Meghan and she’s been trying to recover for months.
And while the Duchess is excited at the prospect of joining the company, it remains a rather “daunting” step as she tries to cement her position in Hollywood.
Speaking to Closer, the source continued: “Meghan seems very confident at the moment but the reality is that she’s been in a pretty desperate spot.
“Losing the Spotify deal was a massive blow to her, not to mention her ego. She’s been pretty lost since but this deal could turn everything around.”
The Duchess of Sussex has been distancing herself from the initial strategy she and Harry adopted since quitting the Royal Family.
The first projects the couple focused on following their departure were still heavily connected to their former lives.
She has now shifted her focus towards reclaiming her pre-royal links with celebrities and Hollywood circles.
The source added: “Meghan knows her new deal with Audible could be make or break for her Hollywood dream. She feels ready but that doesn’t mean this isn’t seriously daunting.
“She hardly sleeps thanks to the pressure of it all, but knows that the pressure will only get worse if she lands the deal – it will be make or break.
“Hollywood’s power brokers will be aware of just how they fumble on the Spotify deal, so they fear that getting dropped twice would be the end of their brand, as nobody would trust they could deliver the content. The stakes are extremely high.”
