Meghan Markle 'lost the woke brigade' with 'tipping point' Netflix moment

Meghan Markle “lost the woke brigade” when she appeared to “mock” the Queen during her Netflix series, a royal expert has claimed.

In the second episode of Netflix series Harry & Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex was discussing the moment she first met Prince Harry’s grandmother shortly after they started dating in 2016.

When recalling the moment, Meghan described meeting the Queen by reenacting a deep curtsy, reports GB News.

The moment has been criticised by fans.

Columnist Maureen Callahan told GBN America: “We (Americans) would like her (Meghan) to fail.

“I will tell you the tipping point for Meghan when she lost many of the woke brigade in America.

“It was the moment she mocked her first meeting with the Queen, miming her own extremely deep, disrespectful curtsy to the Queen…as her emasculated husband sat right next to her with a very pained expression on his face and he said nothing.”

Callahan claimed Meghan “lost America” when she compared the Royal Family to something out of the medieval times.

In her 2022 TV series Meghan said “many Americans will understand this” as she reenacted the gesture.

According to the official Royal Family website there is “no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family”.

It however says many people choose to observe a “traditional” form of greeting.

It explains: “For men this is a neck bow (from the head only) whilst women do a small curtsy. Other people prefer simply to shake hands in the usual way.”

The Sussexes have put out a number of productions since stepping down as working royals. This includes Harry’s explosive memoir Spare that included criticism of his family, including Prince William.
