Meghan Markle issues rare update on Princess Lilibet ahead of her third birthday

Meghan Markle looked every inch the proud mother as she shared a sweet update about her young daughter, Lilibet.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently in Nigeria to champion the Invictus Games and, whilst speaking to a group of Nigerian schoolchildren, the mother-of-two couldn’t help but rave about her youngest child.

Princess Lilibet, who was born in the US, will celebrate her third birthday on June 4.

Meghan opened up about an emotional interaction she recently had with Lilibet, sharing that her daughter is now “talking really literally” with the children.

As reported by PEOPLE, the 42-year-old said: “Our daughter, Lili, she’s much, much tinier than you guys. She’s about to turn three.

“And a few weeks ago she looked at me and she would just see the reflection in my eyes. And she [goes], ‘Mama, I see me in you”, Oh, now she was talking really literally. But I hung onto those words in a very different way.

“And I thought, yes, I do see me in you, and you see me in you.”

Meghan then told the class: “As I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well.”

The Duchess also recalled that “singing and dancing” was Lilibet’s “favourite class” during day one of their visit, adding that it is probably because of “all the jumping around”.

The class were also introduced to the couple’s son Archie, five.

Meghan detailed how their son loves construction, telling the class that “he turned five last week”.

Prior to the couple’s visit, Prince Harry flew to the UK to attend a special ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in London.

The Duke of Sussex was welcomed with a sea of applause as he made his way up the steps into St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday.

Opting to remain in the US with their children, Meghan didn’t appear in London with Harry on Wednesday.

The mother-of-two likely soaked up some quality time with Archie and Lilibet, before briefly reuniting with her husband in the UK ahead of their journey to Nigeria.

During their busy visit, Prince Harry is set to meet injured service members at a military hospital on the afternoon of May 10. Meghan is scheduled to co-host an event of Women in Leadership with Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization on May 11.
