Meghan Markle is 'uncharacteristically mute' as former actor pals go on strike in US

Meghan Markle’s silence hasn’t gone unnoticed as many have noticed that the former actress has not said one word in regards to the current actor’s strike in the US.

Many people in the talent industry in Hollywood have gone on strike over safeguards against the use of AI technology, as well as seeking better pay.

Meghan’s former union, Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA), joined Writers Guild of America (WGA) in the protest.

During her interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2020, Meghan described being part of a union as one thing she “sorely missed” when joining the Royal Family.

In the interview, the 41-year-old recalled that she had told the Royal Family’s HR department that she required help, particularly following the amount of trolling she was receiving on a daily basis.

She recalled how she told the Palace that at her “old job there was a union” who would “protect me”.

Despite her past association, Meghan appears to have remained “uncharacteristically mute”.

According to Ephraim Hardcastle, who wrote in his recent article for the Daily Mail, Meghan was once a “proud member” of Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

He recalled on the day that Meghan and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah aired, Screen Actors Guild tweeted “mid-interview” in support of her.

Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, who is Screen Actors Guild national executive director, recently said that the strike could last until the early months of 2024.

Speaking to Sydney Morning Herald, Mr Crabtree-Ireland said that there is a need for “a path to a fair deal”, adding that they won’t “compromise”.
